His surprising way with words helped Mellore and Isha both through difficult times as their explorations of the Runebarrows intensified. He would continue to travel with CJ, ostensibly to fill his pouch with treasure. In the Quarry, it was Garoo who talked Mellore into returning to New Nevaeh and apologizing for damaging the town's bulwark.Īfter defeating the Lode Golem there, Garoo was excited by the value of the raw lens found there (roughly 200,000 baqua) but also concerned about the type of person who'd desire to own such a potentially powerful artifact. Although the two often clashed due to CJ's naivety and Garoo's more cynical approach, the two worked well together. Hogan would eventually convince Garoo to work alongside CJ. Hogan would introduce him as a mercenary from his home town, something Garoo would downplay. Garoo first met CJ in the Great Forest while examining a crumbling pillar there but the two did not become properly acquainted until he came to Tatara's Smithy. He was the only adventurer who paid the 100,000 baqua to obtain an explorer's license without complaint. He carries his sword and other possessions in his magic pouch, which he says he got "from some old blue furball". A fierce fighter who has come through many life-threatening situations with only his skill, he trusts only the coin in his purse and the sword in his hand. Garoo is a veteran beastman ex-mercenary who came to New Nevaeh in search of treasure in the ancient ruins there. They don’t happen unless both parties involved think they’re tougher than the other guy. Do not read this section if you wish to avoid spoilers.
